Description: She was called the "Green Eyed Lady"
It's a 1974 Monte Carlo that was set up to run the 'pure stock bomber'
division at Highland Rim Speedway, a banked asphalt 1/4 mile track. I even
have a clear title on it!;-) It has a complete drive train in it, 350 cu in,
automatic trans. It ran when it was parked, but I do think my son stole the fuel pump and the
distributor off of it. It has a 4 bbl carb that was just rebuilt the same time the motor, heads and trans were, and seems like there were some extra jets for the carb, but I have No Idea where the jets are now! (except the ones in the carb)
The motor has a small cam in it, but I will have to look in the book to see what
size it is. And the Transmission, which is an automatic, was build by Jimmy
Upchurch, one of the best transmission builders in the area, especially for
round track racing! It has a professional roll cage that was built and installed by 'Buddy Savage' who used to race at the Fairgrounds in Nashville many years ago.
It has a fiberglass racing seat, and a fuel cell in the trunk. The battery was
mounted in the drivers compartment and there is a rubber lined metal box that
bolts over it. It was raced in 1991 and been parked since. I took the cover off the racing seat and put it in out of the weather, and took the harness out, although I think it is a 5 point 2 1/2" rather than a 3". I have two extra rear ends for it (nothing special) two extra front rotors (and maybe the spindles too, I'll have to look), 2 extra upper a frames, a trunk load of coil springs,
maybe some shocks, and I think 9 white spoke wheels, and a spare hood. And there may be some more extra parts out there for it I'm not remembering right now.
I have a little black book on it that has all the specs and changes we made so I would know what we had tried, what worked and what didn't, etc. We were Not allowed to have wedge bolts in that division at the track I ran on,, so we had to use tons of shims!
Were were not allowed to do much hulling of the body either, and I 'think' the weight limit for my class was 3400#, but I would have to look in my book to be sure.
And if memory serves me, it has a 116" wheel base.
A friend of mine who builds races cars helped me
with it and also helped me to 'bed it down' when I quit racing it, and wrapped the motor up with all kinds of stuff (looked snug as a bug under the hood;-) and he put some kind of special
stabilizer in the fuel cell he said.
$1500
Or I might be interested in trading for a small tractor, or possibility
for some plumbing work! Or who knows what else might get my
attention;-)
